Based on the analysis of a system of laminar boundary layer equations under the Boussinesq approximation, the results of the theoretical investigation of the buoyancy effects on flow and heat transfer in vertical jets and plumes are presented. Exact and approximate solutions are constructed analytically. The predictions are compared with numerical data reported by other authors.
