| Résumé : | The development of a decision support system for forecasting Aphis fabae outbreaks in fields of spring-sown beans is described. The system has been developed from an earlier regional forecasting system but has additional knowledge and rules incorporated to provide field specific forecasts. Information, provided by the user, on individual characteristics of the field and crop which are known to affect aphid colonisation, such as field shape, size, plant density, and sowing date, were used to adjust the area forecast for the specific field. The system contains a module for calculating the cost benefit of applying an aphicide and the aphicides that are cleared for use on spring beans. Additional information on the biology of the aphid and safety of the pesticides is also contained within the system (.) |
