Résumé :
|
At a workshop at the Natural History Museum in London (August 30 to September 1, 1994) jointly funded by the National Science Foundation (US) and the Natural Environmental Research Council (UK), systematists, ecologists and conservationists addressed soil biodiversity as relatd to ecosystem function. This report summarizes the three days of deliberations. The workshop discussions were based on the initial understanding that (A) soil biota are integral to ecosystem function; (B) baseline data on most soil species, their ecological role, their systematic position, geographic occurence, and abundance does not exist ; and (C) there are insufficient resources and time to inventory all of Earth's biota.
