Résumé : | Douglas-fir natural flowerin is rarely observed before age 10 or 15. For seed production ax well as for breeding purposes; it is of major importance to promote flowering in order to get seed early, regularly and in higher quantity. Various flower stimulation techniques have been tested during this contract, on one hand, to increase seed production in seed orchards and, on the other hand, for breeding purposes. In seed orchards the objectives were to compare, in our conditions of production, treatments which proved efficient in extra EEC countries and to study the variability of results according to year and site. 8 experiments have been set up by CEMAGREF in two sites located in the South West of France : Latronquière and Lavercantière. Tested treatments were girdling (G), gibberellin 4/7 (GA4/7) injection and nitrogen fertilization. |
