| Résumé : | The document reviews 4 primary topics : section 2 - Physiological response of forests to stresses, Section 3 - Diagnostic indicators of forest health and vigour, Section 4 - Remote sensing methods and tools, and Section 5 - Successful applications of remote sensing technology in detecting and expressing health and vigour. Where progress has been made in successfully implementing technologies, the practicality, cost-effectiveness, available data, advantages and disadvantages, GIS linkages, and logistical requirements are summarized. Section 6 provides some conclusions from the review. Sections 7 to 11 outline a framework for forest health monitoring and potential implementation strategies based on the review. |
