This project was an extension of work on lampreys already completed by the Freshwater fisheries laboratory for SNH. Three objectives were agreed: - To survey the populations of adult lampreys on and around spawning grounds by trapping and electrofishing and collecting detailed information on spawning activity using a comprehensive questionnaire survey supplemented by personal visits. - To assess river substrate to locate potential spawning grounds for adult lampreys. - To develop a strategy for the conservation and monitoring of lampreys populations.
