Résumé :
|
Continued intensification of agricultural production over the last decades has had detrimental side effects on the environment. This book describes the pressure on the environment from nutrient emissions in the EU Member States, Norway and Switzerland. The focus is on nitrogen and phophorus pollution of groundwater, surface waters and the atmosphere. The book not only summarises the state of the environment, but it also reviews and compares relevant nutrient management legislation in these countries. Because the implementation of the European Nitrate Directive is a major issue in all EU Member States, the comparison and discussion has focused particularly on the different policies that have emerged from this Directive. This book provides excellent background information for those who are involved with nutrient management legislation, policy makers and environmental agencies as well as scientists.
