Résumé :
|
Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU and the European commission's directorate general XI, have collaborated to produce the first ever set of environmental indicators for the European Union. This first publication contains 60 indicators giving an overview of the pressure of human activities on our environment in ten policy fields. They cover not only the well known problems of air pollution or climate change, but also more difficult areas such as bio-diversity and dispersion of toxic substances. The document is a first attempt to provide an overview of various environmental disturbances, of interest to the European institutions, the Environment ministries, socio-economic actors (agriculture and business associations and others), NGOs and environmental data users at national and international level. These results represent a first stage of on-going work and are very dependent on data availability, which is in a state of constant improvement.
