| Résumé : | The use of sewage sludge in agriculture poses a health hazard to man and animals. This health risk depends on factors such as the nature of the pathogen, its actual numbers, sludge disposal practices, the use made of the land, and other geographical, climatological and demographic factors. The objectives were to examine availble epidemiological studies and case reports, particularly from a methodological point of view, and to consider the risks associated with sewage sludge in the overall epidemiology of certain infectious diseases. Recommandations were made on epidemiological studies which ought to be carried out in the future. |
