This book deals with global hydrologic cycle and its role in the formation of the earth surface and conditions of human habitat. Regional and general laws governing the formation of river regimes are investigated, and large-scale zones of synchronous and asynchronous fluctuations of runoff and lake levels are established. An evaluation is made of present-day possibilities for detecting cyclic fluctuations of runoff and its causative factors. Possibilities for improving probability methods of runoff computation are studied, based on extensive information and application of space-time analysis of hydrologic processes.
