Its main chapters deal with the agencies-abiotic (fire, smoke, weather and soil factors) and biotic-that cause injuries; susceptibility and resistance; the course and symptoms of forest injuries, disorders and diseases; their economic consequences; and finally, prevention and control. There is an index of pathogens and pests by host species, subdivided by age attacked and type of injury. Literature references mainly cover the period from 1957 to mid-1969. The emphasis throughout is on an ecological approach.
