Résumé : | Potted grafts of Japanese larch were harvested either in a greenhouse or outside in order to determine the effect of greenhouse environment on pollen production and pollen quality.Male strobili were collected 10 days earlier indoors, each graft being harvested 3-4 times on the average. No difference was found for pollen production per strobilus (5.1 mg outdoors and 5.8 mg indoors) and pollen quality (determined through conductivity assay). In addition, pollen samples originating from grafts harvested indoors and outdoors in 1992 showed similar conductivities after two years storage. Therefore, one can conclude that, when grafts are moved into a greenhouse a few weeks before pollen sheddling, the greenhouse environment has no negative effect on pollen viability , even after long term storage. |
