Résumé :
|
Risks are an integral part of nature: forests are constantly submitted to natural hazards and our lives are full of risks! Societies have generally survived because they have been able to deal with risks and to a certain extent overcome them. In the same way forest communities have been able to survive in spite of constant ecological perturbations. It is more and more recognised that those perturbations which include natural hazards and human disturbances play a central role in the evolution of forest ecosystems and that sustainable forest management has to integrate risks associated with those perturbations. The aims of the Scientific Seminar "Risk Management and Sustainable Forestry" were (i) to provide an extensive overview of various risks associated with forestry; (ii) to encourage discussions for defining priorities for future research and collaboration; and (iii) to identify implications for practical forest management. These proceedings compile the keynote presentations, working group reports and poster abstracts of the seminar .
