This book provides a practical and theoretical overview of the ex situ techniques used to conserve plant genetic resources. The thirteen chapters review : germplasm collection, seed storage, field gene banks, botanic gardens, and in vitro and pollen storage as well as emphasising the role of local communities in conservation activities. The efficient management and use of collections is surveyed.
