Résumé :
|
Scots pine seed mass growth during the second year of development was studied. Seeds were collected weekly and bi-weekly in three different years from single clones of southern (61° 15' N, 25° 00' E) and northern (66° 40' N, 24° 50' E) origin but growing in the same clonal archive environment in southern Finland (61° 51' N, 24° 20' E). Seeds of the northern clone reached 90 % of their final dry mass each year from 8 to 17 days earlier than the southern ones ; seed water content at this stage varied between 36 and 55 % (fresh weight basis). Time-course of seed mass growth was adequately described with an asymptotic, non-linear function.
