Résumé :

EFI and Forest Ecosystem Coordination Unit (ECOFOR) organised in cooperation with IUFRO Group 4.01.08 (Effects of environmental changes on forest growth) an international seminar in 17-19 May 1998. The aim of the seminar was to investigate to what extent the findings of increased tree growth and its consequences in Europe are identified, quantified and understood. In addition, the sustainability of increased tree growth and the possible need for further research were discussed. These proceedings proivide an overview of the recent findings and ongoing activities under the theme of the seminar. Contributions has been divided in two themes: biological basis for understanding causes and consequences of increased forest growth, and possible consequences of the increased forest growth.
