The color plant tissues reflects the influence of light, critical temperatures, and the chemical composition of the soil, especially when the soil is deficient in certain major or minor nutrient elements. Sometimes the color of plant tissues reveals the genetic origin of plants, effect of toxic substances, or the action of parasitic organisms. On many occasions the color of plant tissues helps students of plant life and plant growers in the solution of problems related to taxonomy, genetics, physiology, pathology, and nutrition of plants. This collection of Munsell Color Charts is designed to provide a means for the exact determination and permanent recording of the color of plant tissues. In particular it aims to facilitate the diagnosis of adverse conditions responsible for the deterioration of plants and to serve as a stepping stone to soil and plant tissue analyses. The Munssel system of color notation is essentially a scientific concept for describing and analysing color in terms of three attributes called Hue, Value, and Chroma. These attributes are arranged in orderly scales of equal visual steps.
