Résumé :
|
The author's main purpose in writing this book, which is based on his considerable experience of German forestry, was to draw attention to the importance of biological contributions to pest control in forests, biological and mechanical methods of pest control, and forest hygiene in general. It is divided into two main parts, the first concerned with general notions on population theory and forest protection, and the second with components of the forest biocoenosis. This second part is subdivided into sections, of which one is concerned with forest insects, both as pests and as beneficial predators or parasites, arranged according to taxonomic principles. The treatment is comprehensive and the many photographic illustrations add to the value of the book.
