Résumé :
|
The small water and wastewater treatment plants that play an important role in the management of water quality in local areas are increasingly the subject of global attention. Small treatment applications are usually favoured by rural and small communities to treat their domestic and industrial effluents. Installation of these compact systems requires a detailed survey of the prevailing local conditions to apply the most appropriate technology. Harmonization of available data gained through such applications and sharing of knowledge among various countries will enlighten the related scientists, researchers and engineers in the field of water and wastewater treatment systems. With this motivation almost 250 delegates from 39 countries attended the 5th small treatment plants conference From the where 141 oral and 27 poster papers presented 64 have been selected after rigorous peer review for these proceedings. The subjects covered include: decentralised wastewater collection and treatment; low-tech and appropriate systems; anaerobic treatment systems; biofilm reactors; design operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment systems; sequencing batch reactors; nutrient removal from wastewaters; environmental management systems; upgrading of wastewater treatment systems; and water treatment systems. These proceedings present new achievements and ideas on small water and wastewater treatment systems and will provide an essential source of information and insight for all engineers, scientists, and practitioners concerned with the field of environmental and sanitary engineering.
