Résumé : | The John F. Kennedy Student Paper Competition is a unique opportunity for students to present their research results before the international scientific community at a congress attended by leading experts in the field. Students are invited to submit papers which respond to the general theme and sub-themes of the Congress. Submission should be of original work, not previously published, and sole-authored by students with a University (or equivalent) registration at any time during the period of 1999-2001. Please note that the written submission is to be accompanied by an official statement from his/her research advisor affirming the status of the student. There is no strict age limit, papers authored by students below 32 years of age will, however, be given preference. Papers are limited to 6 pages in length and should be prepared according to the specifications shown in Form D. Papers must be sent together with Form C (Bulletin 1) to Prof. Lisheng SUO by 30 November, 2000. Authors will be notified by the end of April, 2001 regarding the acceptance for presentation. Approximately 14 papers will be selected for 15-minute presentations. During two consecutive sessions on Tue. 18, Sept. 2000. The students, who only attend the Tuesday's session, are required to pay USD 50. Both the quality of presentation at the Congress, as well as the technical merit of the paper itself, will be taken into consideration for the awards by an international panel of experts. The winners will be announced and receive their awards at the Congress banquet. Awards are offered for the first (USD1250), second and third places. Note: University professors and researchers are strongly encouraged to promote the John F. Kennedy Student Paper Competition so that upcoming researchers in hydraulics can taste the real-world flavor of this international event, become contributors to IAHR activities, and eventually be active members of the IAHR. |
