Résumé :
|
The Symposium is designed to build bridges between people in different sectors to promote the protection of water resources. The market interplay between suppliers, producers and consumers needs to be clarified. It seeks to make water management more proactive, by exploring proven management and technological techniques while addressing underlying social concerns. Another set of issues relates to water pollution. The conference will address concerns relating to developing nations' lack of water pollution abatement, examining pragmatic approaches that industries in these countries can take to reduce the discharge of hazardous substances into limited water sources. In this context, one of the questions that will be answered is "How can industrial role models, including care for the environment, be found that make economic sense for industrial leaders?" The aim of the 2001 Stockholm Water Symposium is to contribute actively in building bridges between different groups involved in societal planning and in economic decision making on the one hand, and between the experts involved in water resources development and management, in food production and in protection of ecological services, on the other hand. The overarching goal of the event is to facilitate a sustainable development by linking water visions to economic, political and ecological visions
