Report of a scientific collaboration in which we tested the reproductive link between two endangered species, the European sturgeon (Acipenser sturio) and the giant freshwater pearlmussel (margaritifera auricularia). Results are of great interest and may represent the first step towards the design and elaboration integrated recovery and conservation plans for both species at a European level.
