Books constitute a part of its effort to support and encourage limnological studies in all developing countries. specific objectives are to review the status of conservation and management of inland water resources, and the state of limnological research and training as well as to identify gaps in knowledge and specific needs and priorities in various developing countries. the first volume includes reviews of limnology in seven countries namely ghana, tunisia, sri lanka, bangladesh, malaysia, papua new guinea and pakistan. the second volume includes limnological reviews for five countries : costa rica, uruguay, ethiopia, indonesia and morocco. each of the reviews provides an overview of the physical environment, water resources and limnological researches, besides information on the conservation and management of aquatic resources, training and research facilities, and scientific organisations in the country.
