This volume contains the papers and proceedings of a conference on general equilibrium trade policy modeling held at columbia university in april 1984. the purpose of the conference was to engage a group of trade policy modelers in a comparative exercise in which each of the modelers was asked to consider a common policy experiment. as a result, the modelers were asked to consider the case of a 50 % tariff cut on either a unilateral, bilateral, or multilateral basis as seemed most appropriate for their model. this would serve to clarify how these models could contribute to the policy process, and to indicate in what directions the need for further work on models lay.
