The surface sediments of thirty-three lakes in the Vestfold Hills were surveyed for diatom assemblages. Epilimnion water chemistry was also determined for each lake sampled in order to investigate the influence of environmental variables on diatom distribution in this Antartic lake district. Each of the 67 species encountered is described, illustrated and autecological information is included wherever possible.
