The first two chapters deal with oyster farming in the netherlands. farming with tile collectors, which came to an abrupt end in 1963, has been described separately from the system which uses mussel shells as collectors. next, a description of the classical pattern of oyster farming in brittany is presented, followed by several variant patterns. oyster farming by a system closely resembling that of the ancient romans is described for yugoslavia and a suspended farming system peculiar to norway is discussed. the final chapter deals with the farming of olympia oysters in washington.
