Résumé :
|
This volume is grouped into four sections : on controlled maturation and induced spawning, sex and maturity control, growth and metabolism, and stress and adaptation. the two following chapters of the text constitute broad-spectrum single-species orverviews, in each case linked with a specific geographical area, with particular environmental, social and economic characteristics.the first of these chapters concerns the development of aquaculture based on some of the indigenous latin american cichlids, especially the cichlasoma.the second deal with the african catfish clarias gariepinus. it's already an established aquaculture species, both in africa, and increasingly in se asia. the international interest in this species, with its astonishing tolerance of poor environmental conditions, its desease resistance, its relatively simple feed requirements, good growth rates and wide market accceptability is well justified.
