This volume contains the majority of papers presented at the ecsa19 symposium organised on the need for spatial and temporal comparisons of estuaries and coast . it presents cooperative papers reflecting the spatial biological and physico-chemical variability on a large scale and understands and, eventually, predicts trends in natural systems through the analysis of time-series of data. the papers are arranged in sections: physical processes and remote sensing; plankton and microorganisms, nutrients, primar production and macrophytes; intertidal faunal dynamics; subtidal benthos and fouling communities; trophic relationship, predator-prey interactions and fishes; man's impact-contamination and engineering works.
