This book is aimed at two audiences. First, at economist and students of economics who have no background or experience in environmental game theory and applications, but who like to 'get into' the aera. Second, for those currently working in environmental game theory the book provides a collection of state-of-the-art contributions in the aera (althoough we do not pretend to have covered all aspects of the literature. The chapters in this book have been written by some of the foremost authorities in game-theory applications in environmental economics, but also by some of the 'new generation' of post-doctoral researchers in Europe and the US whoare starting to make a name for themselves. In almost all cases, the contributions were specially written for this book. They cover many different aspect of the application of game theory to the environment.
