The species composition of Heteroptera in alfalfa stands for seed was determinated on the basis of studies conducted in several alfalfa-growing areas of the German Democcratic Republic in 1966 and 1967. From among the species which occur in great numbers in alfalfa stands, Exolygus rugulipennis Popp. is particularly important from the economic point of view. Adelphocoris lineolatus (Gz.) and to some extent also Exolygus pratensis (L.) occur rather frequently, too. Results of observations on the behaviour, the biology and the development of these three major species are submitted.
