Details are given of a quantitative method for measuring cell gas composition of captive blowing agent plastic foams. An examination of precision and accuracy of the technique was made using X ray fluorescence and pyrolysis methods of determining halocarbon quantities. The technique was applied to study cell gas dynamics in a phenolic foam exposed to accelerated ageing conditions.
