The present report is written in four parts. The first part constitutes the description of the materials analysed and tested, the artificial ageing used for the experiments, the conservation treatments etc. Thus, the first part provide the material and experimental basis for the second part which are the reports of the analytical and experimental work of the partners. Third part of the report is the general discussion and conclusion on the total results and work. Finally, the fourth part is the recommendations on the assessment, conservation, storage and quality control of vegetable tanned leathers. This final chapter is a joint contribution of the partners in the project, and is written in a form so it can be used as a "handbook" for practical conservation.
