A rigorous approach for the stability analysis of boiling systems under the assumption of uniform boiling on the heated surface is introduced. The semi-analytical procedure is based on linear stability analysis of general distributed parameter systems. For experiments controlled by means of a stabilizing fluid or by feedback temperature control, parameter domains ensuring stable operation can be computed and systematically maximized in view of all relevant system components including heater, power supply, controller, sensors and filters. Stability limitations arisirig from power supply saturation are quantified by numerical stability analysis and dynamic simulation.
