Résumé :
|
The emphasis in this article is placed on monodisperse latices as model systems in the elucidation of structure-rheology relationships. The historical section which follows cites papers which contribute to this view point, but is not intended as a comprehensive review of the literature. The succeeding section on the colloid chemistry of latices discusses problems which must be considered when identifying latex systems with simple model dispersions. In the next section, the structural-rheological "eqation of state" is subjected to dimensional analysis, to develop a corresponding-states principle. Late rsections describe experimental and analytical approaches to the determination of the rheological equation of state, with the concluding section indicating some directions for future investigation.
