There is very little quantitative information about how the rheology of a hydrate in hydrocarbon liquid will differ from that of the pure liquid. In this paper we will look at the literature on general slurry rheology to see what information can be gained from that source, what kind of difficulties to expect, which cases might be amenable to such treatment, what can be done to ease the operation of such a field and what kind of new information must be sought in order to get a reliable base for design and operation of a production system where hydrate slurry is deliberately formed.
