Résumé :
|
The results of the W-163 studies have provided considerable insight into the strengths and weaknesses of surge flow. The results, conclusions and recommendations of those studies are summarized by objective: -OBJECTIVE I.To determine through field and laboratory studies the conditions and principles under which cycled water applications lead to improved uniformities and efficiencies compared to conventional surface irrigation. -OBJECTIVE II.To generalize and verify computer models which incorporate the processes associated with surface and subsurface hydraulics for insights into experimental and system designs. -OBJECTIVE III.To develop automated equipment and related control facilities for the implementation of surge flow systems. -OBJECTIVE IV.To identify alternative surge flow configurations and evaluate their economic feasibility as well as physical and operational suitability. -OBJECTIVE V.To develop design criteria and methodologies for the practical application of the surge technique.
