This book contains the full range of subjects on channel flows, including mixing and disposition, Saint-Venant equations and method of characteristics. This book was developed to introduce students, professionnals and managers to the challenges of open channel flows and environmental hydraulics. After a concise introduction to open channel hydraulics (part 1), the second section (part 2) deals with mixing and dispersion of matter in natural river systems. Part 3 presents an introduction to unsteady open channel flows. The interactions between flowing waters its surroundings are discussed in part 4: sediment transport and air entrainment.
