Résumé :
|
In the Guineo-Congolian region and especially in Gabon, the landscape is constitued by a mosaic of savanna and forest, resulting from the combined action of climate and human occupation. The biology of some key species such as Aucoumea Klaineana, which is locally the most abundant tree and which is kown to play a central ecological role in the rain forest, may be important for the understanding of the overall response of plant communities to changes in environmental conditions. Phylogenetic analysis has shown that the origin of the family Burseraceae to which Aucoumea belongs, predate the continental drift. The separation between this genus and its closest relatives appears to be ancient and probably coincide with the separation of contemporary continents.
