This book deals with multifrequency polarimetric radar systems, which represent a new generation of imaging sensors. It contains a review of wave polarization , then the technique of radar polarization synthesis is introduced together with scattering matrix models for single objects, and models for point and distributed targets are given. It describes the operation and calibration techniques associated with polarimetric scatterometer systems and synthetic aperture radar. Finally, the use of polarimetric radar observations is illustrated through specific examples.
